Ginking was a pioneer – the first UK drink to infuse sparkling wine with gin botanicals. Our brief was to create a New English Classic that effortlessly straddled two different drinks categories, and appealed to both young adventurists and staunch traditionalists alike. Its runaway success has triggered a rapid extension into a series of exciting new variants.

The challenge with GinKing was to find a voice that fused and balanced its opposing demands and tensions – wine vs gin, tradition vs modernity, convention vs disruption. Our answer was to create a playful ‘rediscovered’ heritage, reviving a forgotten world of alchemy. It answers the modern drinker’s need for craft-driven sophistication, whilst the underlying wit and knowing humour keeps it warm, approachable and fun. The open-ended ‘imagined tradition’ can comfortably accommodate the more exotic cultural cues demanded by new regional variants.
